The Korean-American community is celebrating its second century of immigration history. Second generation Koreans have adapted to the mainstream American culture with great ease and the community continues to prosper. It is now time to emphasize on the transition of traditional Korean culture to the second generation Koreans that are our children, and without communicative approach and an effective transitional medium, the Korean culture in America stands endangered and isolated.
The answer is that certain cultural homogeneity must be established between the two generations in order for the two to come to an understanding; such is our initial business philosophy.
The expansion of MKTV which took place in 2006 was extremely well received throughout the tri-state area. MKTV now covers 4 different states in the tri-state, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, reaching over 4 million households through Cablevision and Time Warner Cable. It is needless to say that we have reached countless numbers of non-Asian homes in the process. This has entitled us to an additional mission: MKTV must continue to import only the highest quality Korean television programs, as well as invest in additional English subtitles on our dramas, in order to become a leading medium between the mainstream American audience and the Korean culture.
In early 2009, MKTV underwent a dramatic reprogramming of our contents, replacing the entire import roster to programs produced by the largest and most credible productions in Korea. We hope our viewers are excited and hopeful about this change ? we certainly are. Let us expect some wonderful things happening in 2009. |

Cablevision & MKTV Join Forces
Joining forces with MKTV has brought immense values to Cablevision. This means that Cablevision now has the ability to reach out with one strong, ethnic oriented message to each ethnic group. We can send broad communications to all Koreans living in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island. I am excited and eager to more fully expand the possibilities of what MKTV and iO Korean can do together. The Chusok Festival was a perfect example of this kind of strategic alliance. I am thrilled to know that we have MKTV right in our own backyard.
